VQAS and the sector
Congratulations to Wales CRC
VQ Employer of the year 2016 finalist
We are delighted to be associated with the Wales Community Rehabilitation Company who were one of three finalists for the VQ Employer of the Year 2016 held in Cardiff in June 2016.
In 2014 in keeping with other CRCs the organisation found itself in a position where a number of their Probation Service Officers (PSOs) had not the opportunity to undertake the Level 3 Diploma in Probation Practice. They were faced with a challenge because they did not have the Assessor capacity to undertake this work themselves and so they contacted ourselves.
The CRC approached VQAS and in late 2014 we trained up 4 new VQ Assessors for the CRC and recruited 8 specialist Assessors and IQAs and using a combination of those resources we have worked with the CRC and have taken in the region of 70 PSO staff through their Level 3 Diplomas.
I am sure that you will agree this this is a major achievement which was only possible because of the commitment of Wales CRC staff at every level from the Candidates themselves to Senior Management.
If you feel that we may be able to help your organisation in a similar way then we would be delighted to hear from you.
Training for Practitioners Working with Ex-Armed Services Personnel under Supervision
It is now accepted that many ex-armed services personnel have faced quite serious problems following their discharge from the services with a surprisingly large number ending up before the courts. In 2017 VQAS staff took part in consulta-tion sessions with the Probation Institute regarding the particular needs of ex-armed services personnel and how they can best be worked with by Probation Service and CRC staff. VQAS are now pleased to be able to offer this training working in conjunction with ex-armed services personnel.
